Untitled Project: Part 1, White Knight

(this isn't the full intro, i'll work on it later)
The moon was a thin crescent. Alton saw it more as a semi sadistic smile, half expecting the Cheshire Cat's head to appear around the moon, taking it as a mouth. He stared at it through the windshield, almost in awe.

"What's on your mind?" Jordyn asked, her pale eyes on the road, with both hands on the wheel. She wasn't physically acknowledging him, but she noticed. She always noticed any change in his attention, his mood, the aura around him. Ever since they met at the beginning of this ordeal.

"Nothing important," Alton replied. He knew she would ask again, he didn't even know why he tried hiding his thoughts.

"I don't believe you," said Jordyn. This time she took a single glance at him. This took him by surprise.

"I'm wondering if what we did back there was right. Were we really being what a White Knight is supposed to be"

"Alton, you've a lot to learn. Being a White Knight isn't about doing what you think it's right. It's doing what you KNOW is right. You might not feel very comfortable right now, but it'll grow on you. Eventually, you'll love every second." She was talking about murder, for they had just killed a group of armed men who did not agree with their organization's ideals. As White Knights, they are to kill members of opposing factions, it is only natural, survival of the strongest. And, again, by nature, the reward of being the strongest is the spread of influence.

"I don't know about this," he sighed. He looked out the window for the comforting smile that was the moon, but it had hidden behind the clouds.

"Looks like it is going to rain soon," Jordyn pointed out.

"So it does," replied Alton. "I need to find a place to stay soon. Know of any hotels?" He felt strange about abandoning the previous conversation, but he decided to get back to it later. For now, he decided to deal with his current dilemma.
